what is an action plan?

I a document which is created to show the steps to be taken to attain a certain goal. It includes all the requirements necessary to archive the planned goal. According to businessdictionary.com defines Action plan as a sequence of steps that must be taken, or activities that must be performed well, for a strategy to succeed.

What are the major Elelments of action plan?

An action plan has three major elements
(1) Specific tasks: what will be done and by whom.
(2) Time horizon: when will it be done.
(3) Resource allocation: what specific funds are available for specific activities. Also called action program.

What is the purpose of action plan?

The main purpose of an action plan is to foresee the required resources which will be required to archive the targeted goal. It also help in attaining the goal withing the required time by creating a timeline of the tasks and activities which will be undertaken in order to successful reach the goal withing the required period of time.

How to write a successful action plan?




The following are the guidelines and steps for creating a successful action plan which will help you attain any desired goal. The steps will be inform of questions which you will have to ask yourself before and when developing your action plan as follows;

Before you start with anything first you must state clearly what is the purpose of your action plan. This can include what the action plan is intended for. The more specific and clear the purpose of the action plan is identified the more effective and easier to develop a successful action plan.

What are the tasks to be taken in the action plan?

identify all the tasks which will be included in the action plan. Brainstorm all of the tasks that you need to complete to accomplish your objective. In the academic world, work plans can help students create a schedule for a large project. They can also help teachers plan their course material for the semester.

identify the goals and objectives of your action plan. The goals should be broad and the objectives should be more specific. Consider the "SMART" objectives.

SMART OBJECTIVES

Here are the SMART objectives which you will have to consider when formulating your objectives.

  • Can you count the results? will you be able to quantify the results?

  • Can we get it done within the time allotted with the resources available?

    What are the foreseen obstacles that might get in the way of achieving your goals and objectives?

    Try to list all the foreseen obstacles which might arise and if possible try to write down the possible solutions for each obstacle.

    Seven Steps for problem solving action plan

  • Step 1: Define the Problem(s) ...




  • Identify the problem in which your want to create the action plan. If you fail to identify the problem correctly you will not be able to solve the problem.
  • Step 2: Collect and Analyze the Data.




  • Now that we have identified the problem Collect and analyse relevant data about the problem. This will help you come up with hypothesis for the problem.
  • Step 3: Clarify and Prioritize the Problem(s).




  • Is there more than one problem? which one is more pressing or important than the other? by answering this question you should be able to prioritize the problems by giving high priority the most important questions or the most pressing problems.
  • Step 4: Write a Goal Statement for Each Solution.




  • This are the statements which shows your target in which its the solutions for the problems.
  • Step 5: Implement Solutions - The Action Plan.




  • use the goals and objectives to guide the implementation process by frequent referring to the goals and objectives. In this implimentation process you should be able to answer the question of what, where,who and when. whats should be done, where should it be done, by whom should it be done and when or for how long.
  • Step 6: Monitor and Evaluate




  • By evaluation you will be able to assess whether the goal and action plan corrects the problem
