What is self esteem?

Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself as a person. Those with high self-esteem believe that they are adequate, strong and worthy of a good life, while those with low self-esteem feel inadequate and worthless. Low self-esteem can be deeply rooted, with origins in traumatic childhood experiences such as prolonged separation from parent figures, neglect, or emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. In later life, self-esteem can be undermined by ill health, negative life events such as losing a job or getting divorced, deficient or frustrating relationships, and a general sense of lack of control.

People with low self esteem tends to see them selves as victims of a hostile world hence they fail to express themselves, miss out on experiences and opportunities, and feel powerless to change things.
All this will continual to even decrease their self esteem more and more.

If you feel that you suffer from poor self-esteem, there are a number of simple things that you can do to boost yourself. Just do those that you feel most comfortable with.


  • Know your strength and achievements
Try to create a list of all your strength and all the achievements you have attained. Try to as specific as possible. Or you can ask a friend who you fill comfortable with to help you figure out your strength and achievements.


  • Create a positive mindset of yourself.
Remind yourself of all the good traits you posses. remind yourself how unique you are. Identify and challenge any negative thoughts about yourself such as ‘I am loser’, ‘I never do anything right’, or ‘No one really likes me’ and transform them to a more positive thought of yourself.
To build a positive attitude is so important when dealing with low self esteem.


  • Pay special attention to your personal hygiene and health.

take care of your body hygiene. always take a bath, bash your teeth, brush your hair and trim your nails. Always try to wear clean and well ironed cloths. In short try to be fashionable and confortable in what you are wearing.


  • Exercise regularly.
Exercising will help you stay in good shape and even more healthy. have unhealthy fatty body isn't good for your self esteem. And also Physical exercises to improve brain power. Take more vigorous exercise (exercise that makes you sweat) three times a week.





  • Take care of your stress levels
try to monitor and control your stress. Your can try massage it help reduce stress. I have written a detailed article on how to deal with stressing situations. it addresses all the possible ways to deal with stress.


  • Its time to start doing what you love to do.
Try to do much of the things or activities which your enjoy to do the most. The more happy you become the more you boost your self esteem.


  • Try to accomplish something productive.
such as finishing that paper you started writing, cleaning the house, doing the assignment on time and other tasks which are important and after you have archived them try to acknowledge your achievement. And one little secrete for you is that your self esteem will skyrocket when you archive the hardest task which you have been struggling with.


  • Help some one i need.
I know you will be asking yourself how can this boost my self esteem. In short and clear is that when you help someone i need they will do their level best to make you feel blessed and in fact you will be blessed.


  • Learn to forget.
If its a bad experience or event that dragging your self esteem down. try to forget it as much as you can and the easiest way is to have more events and experience more and more event until the bad events fades and actually after two or three new great experiences you will eventually forget it.

Finally, remember to be happy and product all the time.
